CHARACTERISTICS
A grease trap removes grease (vegetable and animal fats) from sewage water. The installation of a grease trap to prevent the clogging of the pipes, is advisable in the following cases:
Private dwellings that are connected to the sewer system
Private dwellings with an individual water treatment system that is not located near the kitchen
The size of the grease trap depends on the flow rate discharged and the temperature of the water. Boralit can offer two models, i.e. 300 and 500 litres.
HOW DOES A GREASE TRAP WORK
The greasy water from the kitchen and/or the dishwasher flows into the tank by means of an anti-splash jet-nozzle. Grease and water will separate for two reasons:
Grease floats because the density of grease is lower than the density of water
Once the grease comes into contact with the cold water of the grease trap, it solidifies
The grease collects on the surface of the water. At the outlet of the installation a baffle is installed to prevent the discharge of grease.
